A Second Life Survivors Guide To Love In The 21st Century

Let me tell you something about love...it's a real bitch! Of the many topics I am impassioned with, love and relationships is one of them. My family, friends, acquaintances, etc. come to me on this topic because I've unfortunately had to deal with a lot of bullshit in my short life already. I'm going to be pretty blunt with you all in this blog post so, there you go, & here we go!

Let's start with Second Life since we're all here enjoying this other worldly experience. When I started SL....I had no intentions of EVER getting involved here. I was involved in my RL anyway (albeit with an asshole, but hey, more life experience and knowledge on this topic!). There are SO many people in this Second Life though, you never know who you will run into. So unless you come into this place ballsy enough to displace your heart, or with enough knowledge to do just that, then...never say never is all I have to say. 

I did end up falling for someone in SL and I was burned pretty bad in a online tumultuous relationship that lasted nearly 4 years. SL time that is what...50 years?! Hah. What I learned in the end is that, long distance relationships take a lot of hard work, patience, TRUST. Regular relationships do too but this even more so. Second Life seems to add to the dramatics of it all (duh factor) but people always there to be the devil on your shoulder, even the angel on your shoulder is sometimes a devil in disguise. This experience was so bad for me that I ended up dropping that avatar entirely. I don't keep that avatar a secret, her name was Gia too lol. I just didn't like all the attachment that was on her. It's hard to explain. Kind of like baggage that was attached. The memories wouldn't leave. No matter if I switched environments, friends, etc. Starting new, even though the name remained the same...seemed to be what worked for me.
I find myself in SL not seeking love, just seeking company, if that even....more so seeking the company of the next thing that needs to be in my inventory lol. I have my small circle of friends that I am very much in love with and they've changed my Second Life for me entirely. The experience this second time around has been amazing. Not without a few hiccups here and there. Turns out Second Life can sometimes be a third or fourth life...however many tries it takes to get it right! In my Second Life profile it reads, "You learn lessons here and find your purpose, just like RL." That's the truth.

Issues in Second Life to look out for? Actually...you can apply this to RL too lol. Well...firstly be weary of the married person who is seeking TEMPORARY companionship. Unless you are A-okay with that kinda thing, then have at it baby! Do your thang.
A lot of times, people forget that avatars are ran by people! There is a real life person behind the avatar with feelings, with aspirations, expectations. Nobody is to blame in this situation (usually >.>). Sometimes loneliness can drive you to places you never thought yourself capable of and if someone is there to pick up the pieces well...there you go. The problem with that is, sometimes they're only seeking someone to put a band-aid on while still being in love in real life, leaving the person in SL in the end, completely brokenhearted and usually miles/countries away with nothing they can do. That can be a bit of devastating!
Watch out for rebounders! Just out of a relationship and suddenly they're with you...that's going to be issues, believe me! On this note let me spin it a bit...
It's Alright to Be Single!
I see people all the time, especially on this holiday talking about single life this and that. Stop it. Enjoy your life. I know at times you're like, 'Well I want a snuggle buddy too!". Well the damn time will come, you will have your moment. For now, quit it. Quit looking for it. Quit waiting for it. The love that falls into your life unexpectedly is the one you will keep longer.
Don't make this holiday only about a significant other either when the real loves of your life are your family. 

More Second Life/Online issues..."We were just role playing." No hunny, no. I am in a relationship right now, 7 years strong actually. How did we get there? Roleplay! Lol. We played vampires that eventually got into a relationship and though I told myself we were 'just role playing', I ended up talking to him way more. Trusting him with problems I was having, etc. Although there are people that can keep it professional, I won't exclude the professional ones. I thought I was that good too lol. Sometimes we slip up, what can I say? Mind you, I had only been role playing for like a year when I met him. So yes, there are people that can be strictly in character BUT....if you see your man/woman online with a person they are 'just role playing' with for long amounts of time...check it!

Of course the obvious one is to watch out for stalkers. Although, this is kinda tricky. I have a bit of experience with this but still...there is the occasional one that can surprise. I don't really know what hints I can give you about this. They come off pretty obvious usually. Getting a bit too close, getting a bit too personal a bit too soon. I've known the stalker that would wait around for me even if I was offline. Ones that would send me things and not allow me to return it. Ones that threatened even. That can be scary. Hell, occasionally...one of those assholes still pops in a dream or two because I don't trust his ass to this very day. Like I said, avatars are ran by real life people with real life expectations...be it good or bad. So do be careful on what you share and who you share it with! I know another blogger shared a stalker-ish story not too long ago. It does happen folks. Your shit is not Fort Knox.

There are a plethora of 'obvious' things to be aware of but we'd be here for days! Age! Immaturity (although I've seen that straight last through an adult who is 40+ lol).
Using common sense is key, and yes I know...sometimes common sense is not so common, unfortunately, especially when love can be blinding.

Love in the 21st Century is an entity all in itself. One that is still an enigma. What is it? (Que 'What is Love' song here. Random song quotes, Dizzy gets me with this!) It's always been an enigma, but as our world changes...so do the many approaches to love and how to survive it. Social networking has taken it to different levels. People broadcasting amazing and loving relationships when the truth is...they're sugar coating shit and calling it candy. Let's say they're not...lets say it's all true...then you've hurt another couple because that couple or a person in that relationship is comparing their relationship to yours. Why aren't we that happy? Why doesn't he/she do that for me? And it goes on and on.
This is a new world we live in. When push comes to shove, this is where I think...maybe the walls they tell us to drop aren't so bad. Maybe keeping a few of those walls up for the sake of survival is what we really need to do.

Ah the things that inspire me in Second Life. This little chained heart is a special from Remarkable Oblivion out for Valentines Day. Not sure how long it will be there but it's at the main store. I was not only inspired by the heart but also by a song. One that will be inspiring a few more of my blog pics here in the future so I hope you won't mind seeing my fembot a few more times! I love her so!

Tick-tock, Tick-tock! I know! I heard the sound of the clock, the tapping of the nails, the tapping of the feet, the knocks at the door, the messages...but I am here my luvs! And yes I did in fact miss you! I missed my blog, I missed my inspiration! It has been such a hellish couple of months for me. I am trying my best to keep in touch and to hop back on this horse. It's hard to find inspiration though when your world is dimmed. I know some of you know exactly where I am coming from. The holidays are out the window now though so I've been able to get back to a more steady routine of being online and seeing all the awesomeness.

I couldn't help myself with the new Remarkable Oblivion at Epiphany! Wow what an event! Admittedly, gachas piss me off! I'm sorry, I can't word that any differently lol. I am sitting there pumping you full of my money, treat me to dinner or something damn it! Haha. I was able to snag some goodies though with not that much effort! Luck on my side? Maybeh! ALSO, and maybe I'm the only one here who was too excited and didn't read or something but I didn't know that most of the designers there placed their exclusives in their own shops so you don't have to go back over and over again to spend your points. Quick run down in case you haven't checked it out. The event is all about gachas. Once you've bought all the things, rezzed them out, you get a quick pop-up asking you if you want to keep your item or not (careful there!). If you choose not to keep it, you get a point. Rares give you more points. There are items available at this event that you can ONLY get with those extra points. I chose the Remarkable Oblivion Tea Party Table. Here is a nifty lil list of all the creators who have their exclusives out at their shops!

I'm also repping for Glam Affair in this one. One of the only skin places that can make me take off my mesh head and appreciate my system head haha. Gorgeous skin at Kustom 9!

Ahoy Mateys!
Yes yes, Gia had a little break..it was much needed. I don't ever feel the need to announce it here. I guess I just feel secure enough with you all and know that YOU know I will be back soon enough. So far, it's worked for us pretty well. I hope I am finding you all in good health and stuff.
I stated in a previous blog post that I ran into a podcast I love. Not only that, the whole podcast world blew right up for me and since then I've found several. Another one I love is the H.P. Lovecraft podcast. It's basically a couple of dudes talking about the works of, of course, none other than, H.P. Lovecraft. I'm oh...kind of a Lovecraft fan!
Anyway, I was so excited after the podcast that while on break at my RL job, I brought it up and, silly me, I guess I assumed everyone knew Lovecraft! Nope, I just looked like a nerd I guess. nobody knew what I was talking about and so when I went into short descriptions of some of my favorite stories (Of course starting with 'The Call of Cthulhu'!), it sparked a pretty interesting discussion. One of my co-workers blurted out, 'Oh I read romance novels and occasionally a mystery but I don't really read that guy stuff.' .....Excuse me?! What exactly is 'Guy Stuff' when it comes to reading? Can you even label it like that and have it make any kind of sense? I know it was just her ignorance. Surely not all of us women are supposed to read romance novels all day, right?! Please tell me I am right. If that's not the case, well then...I guess I'm a dude! Along with all the rest of the women that love sci-fi? Lovecraft? Whatever she was trying to say. She couldn't really answer me when I did ask her what exactly she meant. She responded with a 'Oh you know, guys mostly read that kind of stuff.' I had to laugh. I informed her I fell in love with Lovecraft and that whole entire genre when I was just a kid. I had siblings that brought me into it but still.
It irritates me that THAT mindset even exists. It honestly has to stop. It's what keeps me from making any kind of friends in RL. It's so very hard to find another woman who I can sit down with and discuss for example Lovecraft, or my love for the horror genre or gaming even! Maybe it's just in my neck of the woods, is it? Do any of you run into this issue in RL or in SL? They like pink, I like black. They like Hallmark Channel, I am horror....etc, etc, etc.  One of the many reasons I love Second Life! It has brought so many of my fellow weirdos close to me and so even though they're not right next door, I do have friends.
So with all thoughts of finding Cthulhu, I set out on a voyage!
Remarkable Oblivion again just always amazes me. Enchantment this round is pretty epic so I hope you've all been out there to snag all the stuff. I know it's hard with all the events going on. Even us as bloggers (at least me, lemme speak for myself here lol) have a hard time keeping up with alllll of these events. I love them though, especially when they are themed. I think it pushes the designers to get creative and I love seeing what they will come up with! Dead Dollz was another fav of mine for this round of Enchantment, Cerberus Xing too! All featured here. "She's A Myth That I Have to Believe In.."

Places in Second Life have slowly started to become covered in all the fluffy white stuff...yes, I do mean snow. Right now, I appreciate it. I am from the northern part of the U.S. so I grew up around many feet of snow during the winter. Winter just isn't winter unless you have to navigate icy roads and can sit in the back yard building igloos. Well, we tried anyway. We never actually could get to the ceiling part of it, we'd just get some pretty high walls going before my siblings wanted to start an all out snowball war and then...the walls were no more. 

The sim owners in Second Life have such talent though. I don't know how they manage to pull an entire place together. The smallest details are always what get me. Ironwood Hills has been a favorite of mine, several of my blog pictures are linked back to it. Creepy and gorgeous with one of the best graveyards in Second Life. Make sure to pay it a visit.

Remarkable Oblivion has given us some more wings to play with. So many of us are still in the RO wings that were released awhile ago. Just like those, these are also gorgeous! With a darker vibe though, at least that's how I saw it. These are available at We <3 Roleplay, be sure not to miss them!

Remarkable Oblivion released these awesome shoes for Kustom 9 and I hope everyone has been over there and snagged them! I fell in love with them. Can't take them off! Especially my darklings. The heel of the shoe is an adorbs little coffin and they inspired my picture here. It's just a quick one. Something sexy, something creepy...just like my heels lol.

All Things Witchy

This trend has been on for awhile though more recently in our Second Life....it seems to have caught fire! It's a good thing because it is a good style. When it's done good, it can be amazing!
I fell in love with American Horror Story when I finally gave it a chance. AHS:Coven was season three of the show and I swear it helped push this style right along. Creepy school girl kinda look? Pretty much! With school starting up, it was something that had to be done.
So Livid released this awesome lil gacha with so many goodies that you will need. If you haven't been there already. They should match perfectly with everything you will be snagging at Collabor88 which just opened at 12am SLT!
I was also sure to include the awesome RARE owl by Remarkable Oblivion which is at The Arcade this round. He's such a little cutie!
The awesome skin I am in is by Glam Affair featured at We <3 Roleplay this round. There are several different Lelutka appliers, this was one of my favs and it fit the picture well.

Hey dolls!
So I had a chance to get my hands on something I don't usually do, or haven't done in a long while I should say! Way back in my first SL days, I loved wearing the Gothy Lolita look and then I became selfish with allll the looks! So I had a blast with this outfit.
Although this isn't a style for everyone, it's a style I find to be super cute! There are so many ways to enjoy it too. With  just a switch up of hair colors and lip gloss, I made it all cutesy but it wouldn't have been hard at all to spin this into a Goth Lolita look instead of Sweet Lolita.
The newly released dresses by DRBC made it quite easy for me! With so many options, I was so undecided on which to play with first! It ranges from Sweet to Goth with an option to even go Classic Lolita so play with allll of them. For my fellow lovers of this fashion, you will want these in ever print, yes they ARE that much fun!
My incredibly gorgeous shoes are by the awesome FK Designs. These are also available in a plethora of prints for you to mix and match to your lil hearts content. These are for Slink High feet and also come with a Belleza high feet pair too. My dear Belleza, which I am finding myself wearing more and more!

The weekend has arrived! Time to celebrate with a round of shopping! That's right, Collabor88 is literally a few moments from opening and I am at the ready, finger by the teleport button as I am sure a lot of you are as well haha. What can I say? Dressing up my pixel dolly is one of my favorite things to do in SL, as you can tell per my blog. 

So I had a bit of a blast with this post coming up with a unique and stylish little get-up. Pairing up a silk blazer with casual ripped jeans. Matched my shoes to my purse, which I loooved! New by Remarkable Oblivion for Colabor88 this round and these are a 'Do Not Miss' on your list luvs! I don't know how RO does it but they never cease to amaze with their uniqueness, quality and detail. I tied the outfit all together with my hat/headphones which are also a Remarkable Oblivion creation for Uber. Super detailed and as you can see, quite versatile.

The hair I am in love with. Shi definitely needs to make me more hair, I simply cannot get enough. I love the wispyness of it. I love the sharpness of it. I love that it is unrigged and that I could customize it to fit perfectly under my hat. (No editing in PS!)

I have chatted you all up many a times about my mad obsession with music. I have a certain love for it. I'm eclectic...meaning I can jump from one Genre to the next quite easily. Wanna play a game? My main point is that my music heavily inspires me! Sometimes I think that when I am on my death bed, if you put my headphones on me and crank the volume (make it Tool!), I will probably stand right up and take off running. Some of my music can bring me to tears in a moment, some of it is just mesmerizing! Do you have a song that can take you back to a certain moment in life? Songs that hold memories of sadness or great memories of happiness. I think music holds so much power....we simply just don't give it enough credit.

Wow, that was pretty much my reaction to allll of the TAG Gacha this round. Holy hell did they blow me away with the badassery. It has been awhile since I wanted to hug and smack so many designers for being so amazingly creative and then for stealing all my damn linden! UGH! But I loved it and had fun bouncing around place to place. So who all had issues realizing you had to touch the 'Tag Here' sign? Lol. I didn't! *coughs*. Hey, it was also 3am so there! I hope you all had as much fun as I did though. I already know everyone was snagging these amazing dolls by Remarkable Oblivion! It's not only their look, their heads turn towards the nearest avatar in a very creepy way. In the Remarkable Oblivion chat group, this was said and I thought it described them perfectly! "Yes they follow you... Then when you're not looking they pull out large kitchen knives and try to slash your achille's tendon so you can't run away when they begin to stab you to death while singing "jesus loves the little children". -Mordeth Morgwain

What is this odd obsession I have with umbrellas? I can't even say but I have a ton in SL. All sorts and styles. Weird ones and stuff. This one is definitely amongst my absolute favs!

Did everyone already hit up Collabor88? Yas?! I was glad to see that it was 'Punk' themed and at the same time sad because as a good friend of mine said, "Punk is a way of life, not a style". I was also sad to see the LACK of Joan Jett! UGH Here, fail cards for everyone that missed it but yay for Nylon for including my woman!!

In any case though, regardless of the theme, there is always something I will want at Collabor88. I loved the Tableau hair, even though I hate the band it was named after haha. 

Of course Remarkable Oblivion is there with some absolutely gorgeous shoesies also a collar and earring set and once again I will say that the texture work for RO is just hands down some of the best damn work you will see on the grid!

I paired it all up with one of my sponsors who is also one of the only REAL 'punks' I know in SL and I so wish he could have been a part of that event. With some more amazing texturing and uniqueness, FK Designs is definitely a shop you will want to hit up.

One Against the World

Holy hells this was a post of epic proportions! Oh man so....Arcade is...what, tomorrow?! Oi! Everyone staple your wallets shut naow or may it rest in pieces!
The amazing-ness I have seen from so many creators has me just like, jaw on the floor and ready to hit the teleport as we speak! I am beyond excited. From hair to clothes, accessories, and home decor it's just...like I said, all out wallet wars.
Speaking of war...some of my favs will be there, some of your favs too right?! Death Row Designs and Remarkable Oblivion. Oh man, oh man, oh man....I couldn't help but create an uber mash up of the two since they went together like peanut butter cups in my book! I was fan girl flailing and rolling around in it all and I am certain...that this will not be the last time I will play with this set. There were too many pictures in my head that were inspired by it all. I know I lowered my pic count down by a lot but I couldn't help myself with this one so, I hope you'll bear with me <3
The quality and attention to detail on both DRD and RO's end is just insane. Gas masks in SL are a dime a dozen but none like this. I will hold it, and caress it lovingly. Also the RO boots...must I say more? RO has already made us shoes that we've fell in love with and this is no exception. Must have gear for my Post-Apocalyptic followers! MUST HAVE.
So I zoomed in on just a couple, JUST A COUPLE because I was already like...oh my gosh I am going to make everyone run screaming from all the pic flooding but well like I said...attention to detail.

"There Was A Time That The Pieces Fit, But I Watched Them Fall Away..."

It's seriously attack of the RO Wings lol. They're gorgeous though! You can't really help but love them and want to wear them in all different ways. I saw tons of lovely Victoria Secret-ish and happy lovey dovey posts so I am glad that side of the wings were covered. I figured I would go in the opposite direction.
Isn' that Gia's favorite direction to go during this sappy ass time of year too?! All I am excited about for February is the return of The Walking Dead. Yaaaaaay! Everyone can keep their chocolates and whatnot and I will be happy over here in my corner with the zombies...and Daryl Dixon!

These wings come in various colors. White, Black (as pictured), red, pink, purple and a almost prismatic color. All absolutely gorgeous and with a Fatpack available, that is the route you'll want to go. I am always too selfish to pick one color only.

With RL things calming down a bit this week, I am hoping to jump back into my regular schedule and hopefully play around with the wings some more. So I hope you never tire of seeing alllll the wing pics <3

"Evil Queens Are the Princesses That Were Never Saved..."

When I was a young girl, I remember questioning things in stories that would make my teachers smile and give me funny looks, in a good way. One of the things I wondered about was why the evil Queen in the story was evil. I would ask and sometimes they would give me a half-assed explanation but most of the time they would simply say she wasn't the focus of the story. I always wanted to know why she was the way she was, why she did the things she did.

If you're wondering, yes I did/do love Maleficent the movie and loved the Disney character. 

When I took this photo and found this pretty, dark little part of this sim...a dark Queen is what I was reminded of. But I never forget that in Gia's World, the Dark Queens have a reason for being Dark or Evil.

My lovely horns atop my head are by Remarkable Oblivion, available at The Secret Affair and of course they're stunning as usual! They're available in 2 different colors, this dark color and a 'dusk' which would essentially be the ivory tone. You'll want them both believe me! Also resizable. Yours don't have to be as big as mine...I just like mine like that :P

Fameshed is open! Did everyone else bum-rush it like I did?! Okay good! I didn't want to feel alone in the struggle lol. Seriously though. I always tell myself I will wait for several days before going to an event. Because the flood of people is soooo bad. Causes lag. Of course there's the people who wear 6186688 attachments plus of course they have to bring their pets and whatnot and hey, it's your SL...but just know you're probably annoying several people when you do that at events! I rarely hop in an event in full attire, I'm mostly nude..just kidding! I'm usually in full on body alpha (so kind of nude right?)

However, there are some things I will fight the masses for. I saw these heels by Remarkable Oblivion and I admit that...I will willing to bum-rush Fameshed to get my hands on these babies! Such a super unique style and in typical RO form, excellent quality and texture at a price that just makes it easy to grab them all...plus there is a Fatpack available so even easier! Cuz you cannot pick one color. Versatility is so very much appreciated in my wardrobe because you will almost never see Gia dressed in the same style of clothing. I am gothy today, maybe not so much tomorrow, cyber Mondays, Black on Wednesdays, Freestyle Fridays...I dont really go by that, I am just saying, the randomness is there so if I find an article of clothing that can be dressed up or down, I hold it dear to my pixelated heart.
